This project is aimed to work with our students in order to present the production and introduction to the market of products made out of recycled materials, do research about the economic viability and then transform all that into a basic business plan.
This entrepreneurial venture will be the thread which will allow us to use RECYCLING ART to connect as many subjects as possible in order to give our students a new perspective about COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION and develop the different kinds of intelligence and basic skills so every pupil can be aware of their own abilities sharing the DIVERSE POINTS OF VIEW that the different countries and cultures taking part in the project can contribute to.
Besides, and due to its own idiosyncrasy, recycling art will help to foster equity and inclusion in education and prevent drop-out promoting participation of disadvantaged learners. Art is an important part of people's lives because it rouses the mind and gives the chance to explore their imaginative side. It also informs, entertains, enlightens and educates people in all possible ways. Nowadays, the best websites on the Internet and shops in the world about decoration include objects made out of recycled material. We can all think of furniture made from recycled pallets, bottles turned into glass cups, bottle cap magnets or Christmas trees from milk cartons. Moreover, the vast majority of our students love making their own jewellery and ornaments using this kind of matter because it is fashionable and makes them feel useful and creative. We cannot miss the opportunity that this new trend is giving us and we must take advantage of it to improve the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, which is based on creative ideas. This project will bring the chance of setting up activities to develop key competences in this field: to plan and manage a project, to use human resources in an optimal way or to be creative and innovative to foster entrepreneurial behaviour.
The project will work with RECYCLING ART from two different perspectives: - From the entrepreneurial point of view to develop entrepreneurial attitude (as described above), - From a creative way of connecting the different curricula, thorough different activities related to Recycling Art (making insects, cells, etc. using different materials for Science lessons, making up stories including recycled materias as main characters for Literature lessons or using cap bottles to build a map for Geography are just some examples of what we are developing in this form).
As this is a way of fostering innovative methodologies in education and promoting approaches aimed to develop key competences away from traditional methods based on content teaching, we think our proposal can also contribute to stimulate a more open and flexible way of learning, which is likely to engage our students, including the least motivated ones.
The methodology used in the project will be based on digital tools in order to manage the whole process like publicity, design of the goods, accounts keeping, mechanical control in engineering lessons, partners' communication and collaborative work, video making, social network, etc. As we will see further on, this project is aimed to two different target groups, students and teachers, who are bound to integrate and enhance ICT tools in their daily work.
